What is an endodontist?

Endodontists are dentists who specialize in root canal treatments. Root canals are the treatment of choice for a tooth that has become infected or damaged. A root canal is a procedure that involves removing the infected or damaged tissue inside the tooth, and replacing it with a filling material that helps seal off the area.

The most common reason for needing a root canal is when teeth have been cracked or broken by accident. This can create an opening for bacteria to enter and cause infection. The infection may spread to other parts of the mouth and eventually lead to symptoms like swelling and pain. Other times, people will develop cavities in their teeth which require treatment with a root canal as well.

Endodontists specialize in treating these issues so they can provide you with long-term relief from your symptoms while also preventing further damage to your mouth and teeth. They are trained specifically on how to perform these procedures safely so they don’t cause any harm or further damage while still effectively treating the problem at hand!
